Tea-time has become a norm in Singapore and many new bakeries and cafes are a testament to that.
Tiong Bahru bakery is one such place that serves a delectable range of pastries and baked items. It has been a favourite place of mine to go to since it’s days at Tiong Bahru (of course right). But now it has opened up several branches at more prime locations such as city hall and Tangs Orchard.
I was around Tangs when I decided to stop by for a teatime snack and my much needed coffee. I decided to go for flan this time and they had their own rendition of it ala the “Pandan flan”($6.5). It tasted like normal flan custard but with the added kick of the Pandan which also gave it a slight greenish tint. It was refreshing and it sort of reminded me of eating a mixture of a Pandan chiffon and some Nonya Kueh all in one. Definitely goes well with my “magic” coffee ($6.5).
If you are a fan of coffee and its taste, I definitely recommend going for a cup of magic instead of the usual latte. A double shot of espresso with just the right amount of milk, it is simply a “magic” formula.
So next time you do pass by Tiong Bahru Bakery, step in, relax and let your tastebuds go on a field trip!!
