The Downtown Line 2 has changed the way we think about weekend plans, especially when it comes to meal time. It is properly convenient, and much more reliable than the Circle Line! But there are pockets of areas along the Line that could only be accessed by car – one of them is located at Turf Club Road (the nearest MRT Station being Sixth Avenue).
We were craving for crabs, and given that we have passed by The Grandstand’s Dancing Crab countless times, we popped over for lunch (rather than the usual hand made noodle a couple of stalls away).
All consumers at the table that day came to an agreement that we had to order the biggest possible crab to pamper ourselves, which is why we asked for an upsized one weighing in at 1.1kg, instead of the usual on the menu (700g). This massive Sri Lankan crab is then paired with their signature sauce – a choice of mild, spicy and extra spicy. And yes, there is plenty of meat to go around. We know it’s a tad excessive for lunch, but one of such meals every few months wouldn’t hurt!
We also ordered the combo bag with Buerre Blanc sauce (white creamy sauce), consisting of 300g of prawns, 250g of mussels, 250g of clams, potatoes, corn and sausages). A good dish to complement the spice from the crab.
And yes, we were not done – our last dish came in the form of lobster rolls (SGD$29.50). This reminds us of the one from The Naked Finn, but it tastes different. No less tasty, though. Lobster spilling out of the bread when served is always a good sign! A glass of Lavender Lemonade (SGD$4.00) proved essential to wash down all the food…
Remember to take advantage of the American Express Platinum Card – you’ll be rewarded with 50% off for 2-person dining. An explosive treat, but well worth it!
