To some of us, consuming food has already been etched in our lifestyle, and other factors such as ambience, service quality and location play vital roles to ensure a pleasant dining experience. There are also a handful who adopt the “hit-and-run” approach – grabbing a quick, satisfying bite at the hawker centre before rushing off for another appointment. But it can also be rather relaxing to slow down the pace of life and dine in a chilled-out location. Our bistro of choice today lies right on the Western tip of Singapore – The Bridge Bistro & Beacon Bar.
We timed our dinner just right to catch the sunset. Thankfully, it wasn’t blazing hot before it was engulfed with darkness, as we opted for the non air-conditioned seating. But be warned though – it could get pretty warm if the weather doesn’t pan out well! Yes, it might be located at the Republic of Singapore Yacht Club, but this Bistro is opened to the public.
First up was some finger food – Crispy Chicken Wings (SGD$12). Piping hot and crispy, a perfect starter to cure our hunger pangs. Consume it fast before it turns cold, as it will not taste as good!
Next up will be the Crispy Beer Battered Fish & Chips (SGD$16.80). Barramundi Fillet in Light Craft Beer Batter served with Fries, Mesclun Salad & Homemade Tartar Sauce – a tantalising treat that is sure to fill your yummy. The fish might not look king-sized, but it certainly packs a massive punch to fill our tummy.
We also ordered the Pan-Seared Salmon (SGD$25). It comes with Mash Potato and Seasoned Vegetable served with Honey Grain Mustard Glazed. A tinier portion, but still worth the purchase taking into account that the flavour and oil from the salmon oozes right from your first mouthful. A tender treat over a stunning backdrop!
